Bentley establishes environmental fund to help combat climate change

Bentley has launched a special climate fund to aid in the fight against climate change. The British carmaker has announced that it will be investing a whopping £3m into the Bentley Environmental Foundation this year with donations also invited from public and Bentley employees.
For setting up The Bentley Environmental Foundation, the Crewe-based carmaker joined forces with Charities Aid Foundation (CAF). The foundation is having three primary projects for now - Project Drawdown, The Biomimicry Institute and Sustainable Surf. More initiatives will be announced in the future.
Project Drawdown looks to solve the disconnect between climate funding and science based solutions. Through the project, philanthropists and investors will be able to collaborate. The Dr
awdown Labs Capital Accelerator set to be built under the project aims to “influence up to $100 billion in capital flows to climate solutions by 2025.”
The Biomimicry Institute’s primary aim is to help innovators in scaling up their solutions in the face of competition from established businesses. It looks to support 10 startups or around 30 changemakers per year.
Sustainable Surf is a non-profit organisation established in California that leverages the power of surfing to improve the health of our ocean globe and counteract climate change. By funding the Sustainable Surf’s SeaTrees programme, Bentley will be looking to play its part expanding the organisation’s restoration projects currently operating in Kenya (where 1 million mangrove trees have already been planted) and help projects in Portugal and Spain.
Chairman and chief executive Adrian Hallmark said: “The Bentley Environmental Foundation will fund pioneering, discovery-led initiatives that can make a positive impact beyond our own business needs, engaging customers and innovators to seek out breakthrough technologies and solutions that lead the way on reversing the effects of climate change. The opportunity to act and innovate has never been more exciting than now."
