Engine

Modern cars are pretty reliable and virtually bulletproof. In order to keep them that way, however, a few checks and procedures are absolutely essential.

Regular Oil Checks

Oil keeps vital parts of the engine well lubricated and cool. Without oil, the engine simply cannot function and waiting too long between oil changes, can put the engine at risk of permanent damage. The oil filter, a related component which needs to be changed at the same time, catches all the dirt and debris in the engine and prevents it from recirculating.

Radiator & Coolant

The cooling system, which includes the radiator, thermostat, water pump and coolant, is another vital part of any motor vehicle. The coolant, which circulates when the thermostat determines that the engine is getting hot and needs to be cooled down, is of utmost importance in countries such as the UAE.

Engine Belts

While belts are used within the engine compartment to perform a multitude of functions, their main responsibilities include running the fan, water pump, alternator, and air conditioner. Although belts typically last a very long time, they will eventually begin to show signs of wear and begin to crack. Should they break while you’re driving, they can cause major damage to the engine.

Air Filters

While keeping bugs, leaves and dirt from getting inside the engine, air filters play an important role in allowing the engine to breathe freely. And though they usually last a very long time, they do need to be cleaned frequently or run the risk of starving the engine of oxygen, letting in too much junk, or both.

Fill before empty

Gasoline possesses a certain amount of sediment that settles at the bottom of fuel tanks. Though the fuel filter will catch a lot of this sediment and prevent it from entering the fuel lines and engine, constantly running low on fuel will force the car to pull from the bottom of the barrel, in addition to all the junk that has accumulated there.
