Choose how many years you want to repay over and enter the annual rate from your bank offer.

  3. Read your monthly installment

See the installment, the total interest and what the car costs you in total — updated as you change any value.

Flat rate vs reducing rate — why bank quotes look lower

Banks in Egypt usually quote a reducing-balance (APR-style) rate, where interest is charged only on what you still owe — the same way this calculator amortises the installment, so a bank quote can be pasted as-is. Some dealers and finance houses still advertise a flat rate on the full loan amount; the same headline number then means a very different cost, so compare the monthly installment, not the rate.

Rule of thumb: a flat rate is roughly equal to a reducing rate 1.8× higher over five years. A 2.5% flat quote is close to 4.5% reducing.

Frequently asked questions

What is EMI and how is it calculated?

EMI (equated monthly installment) is the fixed amount you repay each month. It is calculated from the loan amount (car price minus down payment), the monthly interest rate and the number of months, using the standard amortisation formula — the same one this calculator uses.

How much down payment do I need for a car loan in Egypt?

The calculator starts at 20% of the car price and lets you change it. The car loan rules on this page show the minimum down payment in Egypt. Used cars and higher-risk profiles are often asked for more, and a larger down payment always lowers both the installment and the total interest.

What is the maximum car loan tenure in Egypt?

Lenders in Egypt cap car finance at a set number of years; the calculator never offers more than that cap. A shorter tenure raises the monthly installment but cuts the total interest you pay.

Is a flat rate the same as an APR or reducing rate?

No. A flat rate charges interest on the original loan amount for the whole term; a reducing (APR-style) rate charges it only on the outstanding balance. A flat rate is roughly equivalent to a reducing rate about 1.8 times higher over five years, so always compare offers by monthly installment and total cost.

Is there a minimum salary for a car loan?

Most banks set a minimum monthly salary and also cap your total repayments as a share of income (the debt-burden ratio). Both vary by bank and by whether you are a national or a resident, so confirm with the lender before you commit.

Does this calculator apply to every bank?

It estimates the installment for any car price, down payment, tenure and rate. Banks add their own processing fees, insurance requirements and rate types, so use the result to compare offers and plan — the bank's final quote is the binding one.

Can I link straight to a calculation?

Yes. Put the inputs in the page address: price (the car price), down (the down payment), years, rate (the yearly rate in %) and rate_type (reducing or flat). The page opens with the installment already worked out, and the address follows your changes, so you can copy it and share it.
