Quick Review

The Mini Clubman keeps the iconic Mini styling, but with a bit more space overall. It’s fun to drive, with some good engine choices. However, this estate version of the Mini still isn’t the most practical in its class.

The 2012 model has had a small facelift, including an improved interior. If you want a Mini but can’t cope with the small interior space, then the Clubman is a good substitute. It can easily take two adult passengers in the rear seats, with decent leg room. The standard Mini interior remains, with all the retro features and good quality build that you’d expect.

Though the ride may be on the firm side, the Clubman demonstrates strong grip and is quiet at higher speeds. All the available engines have a version of the BMW Efficient Dynamics package that greatly reduces fuel consumption. As with the whole Mini range, the Clubman has a premium feel and a premium price tag to match. However, depreciation is expected to be slower than most.

However, for anyone who loves the Mini look but needs a bit more space, the Clubman retains this youthful feel – but with some more grown up practicalities.
