Nissan Juke 2016

The 2016 Nissan Juke puts the fun back into inner city driving with a zippy little 1.6L Turbo making 188 hp. Its available in front wheel drive and four wheel drive with the four wheel option being an extra. The Juke caters to every need you could have, with a 354L boot capacity, 6/8 Litres per 100Km and a modern colorful interior fit for anyone looking for a top of the range runabout. We were given the top of the range turbo, Let the fun begin!

Key Features:

Engine:                1.6L Turbo

Transmission:      Xtronic CVT / Tiptronic

Power:                188HP / 240 NM

Top Speed:          200Km/h

Price:                   AED 63,000 - 85,000

Exterior

While I can understand the exterior of the Juke is not to everyone's liking with the front headlights resembling the human race’s worst enemy, the mosquito, the back end is rather pretty. It's big flared wheel arches add to the sporty look and the alloy wheels provide good stance. There are two options for exterior colours, black with yellow side mirrors and door handles and red exterior colour with white side mirrors and handles. You get matching coloured stitching on the interior as well.

Interior and Safety

Nissan Juke 2016

Nissan has definitely taken a modern approach with the interior as the first feature you notice when getting in, is the large coloured plastic centre console. Now I would consider myself to be fairly open minded but even for me this was getting uncomfortably close to too much. I would have prefered a leather covered centre console. The seats are stunning, with luxurious leather, well executed stitching and sport bolstered supports. Nissan has put a very well equipped infotainment system in the car with Sat-Nav and Nissan’s own NissanConnect, which allows you to connect your phone to the system and play music wirelessly from your phone. The inside of the Juke isn't very spacious and the rear seats can be useless if you have tall people in the front. The sunroof is great, even if you can only use it during winter, unless you want a sunburn. The Juke comes with 6 airbags, four in the front and two dual front side-mounted airbags. It also comes with electronic stability programme (ESP). This system activates the Anti-lock braking system and traction control in times of need, keeping the vehicle as straight and in control.

Drive

Nissan Juke 2016

I was surprised at how fast this little car was with the 1.6L Turbo completing the 0-100kph sprint in around 7 seconds. The steering is direct, provides lots of feeling and is light. All of this combined means you can place the front of the car directly where you aim and never have issues getting in and out of tight spots. The Juke rides well and feels well balanced and as though it's set well on the chassis, even though the seating position feels slightly high the car doesn't feel spongy while cornering. One downside I noticed was the Juke had a bit of torque steer at low speeds. The car gets comfortable on bumpy roads and doesn't appreciate speed bumps over 40kph. On the roads it's built for, its smooth and good fun.

Verdict

The 2016 Nissan Juke is a great all rounder and has clearly been built from the ground up, for inner city driving. The sparky little engine provides more than enough umph for driving around town and the interior is modern with luxurious seats and a great infotainment system. Overall I really liked the Juke and had a great time with it. 4/5
