Mercedes reveals CLA45 AMG

After Mercedes-Benz enjoyed its success with the SLS AMG GT3, it decided to come up with a more affordable race car and put together the new CLA45 AMG-based racer.

The CLA45 AMG Series is still just a concept that Mercedes will make its official debit at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show. If the responses were positive, the production could be available before the start of the 2014 motorsport season.

The race car features a turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder engine. Specs include AMG SPEEDSHIFT seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, choice of front or all-wheel drive, carbon fiber reinforced plastic body panels, a huge GT wing and a cabin with FIA-approved roll cage.
