Mercedes has launched the all-new 2017 E-Class in the Middle East. “The E-Class is the core of our brand, and in the past has repeatedly redefined the standards in the executive-class segment. Now it carries this tradition into the future with a wealth of top-class innovations that take safety, stress relief and comfort to a new level. It is without doubt the most intelligent sedan in the executive class,” said Dirk Fetzer, Vice President & Director, Sales & Marketing, Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars. “What will also delight our customers is the confident style, agile handling and revolutionary interior design of this exceptional new model.”

The exterior of the car looks very much like the S-Class and the C-Class. Thus, Mercedes has finally hopped on the BMW/Audi bandwagon and made all its sedans look the same – just the dimensions are different. Well, I would say it is a nice strategy as it keeps a distinct brand image as well as keep the models easy to recognize by the size. Coming to the internals, the new E-Class incorporates a new 9 speed automatic transmission for better fuel efficiency and smooth gear changes. Other than that, it is pretty much standard chassis settings as other Mercs. One thing to point out is the air-suspension – a segment first is available in the E-Class as an option.

The interior is where the E-Class is focused on. It looks more like the S-Class than the C-Class. To be honest, the interior looks better than the S-Class. The dual 12.3” displays debut in the E-Class. Moreover, the steering buttons are gone in favor of touch controls – a world first. So, now you can swipe and do stuff that you do on your smartphone to control the car’s functions. Other interior functions include safety systems like PRE-SAFE, Drive assist, Brake assist and Drive Pilot – Merc’s way to autonomous driving.
