Nissan Patrol

The Nissan Patrol is unarguably one of the most successful and popular cars for the Japanese auto giant, especially in Middle East markets such as the UAE. The Patrol has been one of the most instrumental models for Nissan’s widespread success in the region, and it has been clocking up staggering sales numbers for the past several years. The full-size SUV entered its sixth-generation Y62 avatar back in 2010, and has been going strong ever since. The Y62 is the most up-to-date incarnation of this famed SUV, and now in 2019, the new Nissan Patrol is available in seven different variants, with prices commencing at AED 194,000 for the entry-level trim, going all the way up to AED 388,500 for the full bells-and-whistles Patrol Nismo.

The Nissan patrol measures in at 5.165 meters in length, 1.995 meters in width, and 1.940 meters in height. As for the distance between the front and rear axles, that stands at 3.075 meters, while the overall boot capacity is 550 liters. The base variant of the new Nissan Patrol is represented by the 4.0L XE variant in the line-up, and it comes powered by a 4.0-liter naturally-aspirated six-cylinder petrol engine that puts out 275hp at 5,600 rpm and 395Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. Meanwhile, transmission duties on all Patrol variants are handled by a smooth 7-speed automatic torque-converter gearbox, and drive is sent to all four corners via Nissan’s “All Mode” four-wheel-drive system.

Of course, weighing in at nearly 2.7 tons, the Nissan Patrol V6 isn’t the quickest vehicle off the line - requiring 11.5 seconds to accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h. The top speed for this 8-seater SUV is pegged at 200 km/h, while its average fuel economy is rated at 11.8 L/100 km. The base V6 variant comes equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, halogen headlamps, rear spoiler, power tailgate, electrically-adjustable and folding door mirrors, keyless-entry with push-button start, fabric upholstery, cruise control, automatic dual-zone climate control, split-folding third-row seats, cool box, all-round parking sensors, and a two-din, 4-speaker audio system with support for CD playback and AUX-in. The XE variant also features dual airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Hill Descent Control (HDC), Limited Slip Differential (LSD), a rear differential lock and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) among others.

In the UAE, the Patrol V6 line-up has three more variants: the AED 215,000 SE (Mid Option), AED 226,900 SE (Full Option), and AED 271,900 SE Platinum. Of these, the latter is the range-topping V6 variant of the new Patrol, and it comes with several goodies to prove it. There are 20-inch machine-cut alloy wheels, revised front bumper, front & rear fog lamps, roof rails, automatic headlamps with low-beam LED elements and integrated LED DRLs, headlamp washers, door mirrors with auto-tilt and position memory functions, and puddle lamps.

Moreover, buyers will also benefit from six airbags, crash-sensitive door-unlock function, 360-degree Around View Monitor (AVM), and Nissan’s Intelligent Rear View Mirror.

Finally, at the top of the pack, lies the fully-loaded Patrol Nismo. It’s powered by a specially-tuned 5.6-liter V8 that produces 428hp and 560Nm of maximum torque - enabling it to hit 100 km/h in just 6.5 seconds, along with a top whack of 210 km/h. For your 388,500 dirhams, you’ll get 22-inch Nismo wheels, Nismo front & rear bumpers, white Nismo-branded leather seats, Nismo-branded steering wheel, Nismo engine start/stop button, adaptive cruise control, and climate-controlled front seats.
