Range Rover Evoque 2019

There was a time when a Land Rover vehicle was large, boxy and mostly geared towards off-road enthusiasts. However, these SUVs tend to be more expensive and rather cumbersome on city roads – which happened to be where a majority of the owners used their car. Also, compact luxury crossovers were becoming increasingly popular with each passing day. Of course, Land Rover couldn’t just watch as other carmakers swooped in and took away valuable prospective customers. So, in 2011, the British automaker launched the highly-anticipated Range Rover Evoque.

As expected, the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque was a big hit, and eventually, went on to become the best-selling model made by Land Rover. Since its initial debut nearly eight years ago, the Evoque has gone through a few design and technological improvements to keep it competitive. An all-new model is expected in 2020, but for now, this is what you get. The Evoque is also available in a standard 3-door or 5-door form, plus as a coupe and even a convertible. In the UAE, the 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque mainly rivals the Audi Q3, BMW X3, and Infiniti QX70.

Exterior

The exterior design and styling of the 2019 Range Rover Evoque is almost entirely based on the very concept vehicle that introduced it – the LRX. Its sporty front fascia is dominated by a deep and muscular bumper with several cut-outs for the air intakes, along with a functional skid plate. The aggressively-styled LED headlights with their signature DRLs look sharp and posh. The power bulge on the hood looks good, and it (unfortunately) has some fake air vents.

The side profile of the Evoque is magnificently captivating and sporty. Its bulging fenders, enormous 20-inch alloy wheels, blacked-out pillars, a raising shoulder and window line, plus a sloping roofline all come together to lend it a poised, coupe-type look. It also has adequate ground clearance, plus some black body cladding to prevent any minor damage. At the back is a really small rear window, comparatively large rear spoiler, taut yet trendy LED taillights, dual-exhaust pipes and an air diffuser integrated into the bumper. The 2019 Range Rover Evoque is 4.370 meters in length, 1.985 meters in width, 1.660 meters in height, and has a wheelbase measuring 2.660 meters. Its boot space of 575 liters is quite admirable, especially considering its size and coupe-like styling.

Interior

The interior design of the 2019 Range Rover Evoque is also interesting, modern, and above all, really eye-catching. As stylish and sophisticated as it might be, though, it’s mostly form over function. The sloping roofline, along with its relatively compact proportions makes this cabin less practical than some of its rivals. However, the Evoque’s build quality, fit & finish, and most of the materials are almost perfect.

The 2019 Range Rover Evoque’s features list includes adaptive cruise control, adaptive dampers, automatic LED headlights, panoramic glass roof, leather interior, ambient lighting, heated/cooled front seats, all –round parking sensors with surround camera, a 10-inch touch-infotainment screen, and a 16-speaker audio system. There are also 8 airbags, rollover stability and traction control, collision detection, and many more.

Engine and performance

Under the hood is an Ingenium series, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-popper that makes 236 hp and 340 Nm of torque. All of this is directed via a 9-speed automatic to an AWD system. The Range Rover Evoque manages a top speed of 217 km/h, 0-100 km/h dash in 7.3 seconds, and returns a fuel economy of 7.3 L/100 km.

Verdict

The 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque is priced between AED 180,700 and AED 275,900, while insurance premiums cost from AED 4,066 to AED 6,208.
