BMW 5 Series

Designated as the G30, the next generation of the 5 Series aims to show that it has never lost its edge, that it is still the benchmark when it comes to performance-oriented midsize saloons. As far as first impressions go, the 2018 BMW 5 Series has what it takes to live up to that promise, and is currently one of the most popular rides on Egyptian streets today.

Exterior

While this is a completely new car from the previous year’s model, the 2018 BMW 5 Series features just some minor changes compared to the previous-generation model. Larger headlights and larger grilles that contain automatic shutters (a first for the 5 Series) set the tone for the front. All around, the look is very modern, highly artistic if not understated. Some would say that it looks like a smaller version of the 7 Series, but to each their own.

Interior

The interior is of superb quality, as per the standard in the BMW 5 Series. High-quality materials are used all over the seats and trim, and practically everything in the interior is placed purposefully. The seats can also be had with optional 20-way inflatable bolsters, which adjusts the firmness of the seats depending on the user’s preferences. The front seats are incredibly supportive, but the rear seats may prove tricky for some adults, especially those on the larger side.

Features

BMW 5 Series

The features of the 2018 BMW 5 Series are essentially an update of the previous one. The centerpiece of the dashboard is the 10.3-inch touchscreen that also houses BMW’s iDrive 6.0 system. A lot of the car’s features can now be controlled via the steering wheel controls, voice commands, the iDrive knob, and even hand gestures.

Specs

BMW 5 Series 2018

There are currently 2 engine options available for the BMW 5 Series: a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine with maximum output of 245 horsepower and a 3.0 liter six-cylinder engine with maximum output of 306 horsepower. Perhaps the most changes seen in this car is in the chassis; it’s tuned for better handling characteristics. Also added is a 4-wheel steering system called the Integral Active Steering (IAS)

Verdict

The all-new 2018 BMW 5 Series has established itself as one of the contenders in the midsize luxury sedan market. While more improvements and features are expected to come moving forward, it is right now one of the best cars in its class.
