Nissan Sunny vs Honda City

If you’ve got a budget of 65,000 Dirhams and are looking for a Japanese sedan that gives you great value for money, then chances are that you’re considering the all-new Nissan Sunny. However, you might also be considering the all-new Honda City. So, which of these two Japanese sedans should you buy and why? Let us find out…

Drive

Honda City vs Nissan Sunny

The Nissan Sunny with its 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine is a breeze to drive on highways and in rush hour traffic. The 118 horsepower and 149 Nm of torque never let it feel slow or like that it needs any more power. Average fuel estimates stand at 19.3 kilometers per liter, which is an extremely impressive number and that is made possible by things like a great CVT gearbox.

On the other hand, the Honda City gets a smaller displacement engine, a 1.5-liter four-cylinder, which puts out 121 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque. Although the engine is smaller in size, the City is unable to match Sunny’s fuel efficiency, but it is likely to be the choice for more enthusiastic drivers since its CVT gearbox gets mated to a set of paddle shifters behind the steering wheel.

Interior

Nissan Sunny

Although both cars are budget sedans and have a lot of hard plastic, the Honda City’s cabin does feel a little better put together. The fit and finish are better than expected and both cars have a dual-tone color scheme going on, with beige breaking the monotony of the black plastics.

When it comes to screens, the City gets an 8-inch infotainment screen and a small black and white display in the instrument cluster for things like the trip computer, gear position, etc. On the other hand, the Sunny gets a smaller 7-inch infotainment screen but a significantly larger and better color display in the instrument cluster that can be customized to show information most relevant to you.

Honda City

Space in the back is another area trumped by the Sunny and that is made possible due to its longer wheelbase. However, even though the Sunny maybe a little more spacious, the City is still the nicer place to be in and that is mainly because the engineers at Nissan skimped on a very important aspect – rear AC vents!

Features

City Scree

When it comes to features, the Nissan Sunny is the undoubted champion. It’s got Forward Collision Warning, which warns you if you get too close to the car in front of you. It’s got blind-spot monitoring to make sure you change lanes safely. It’s got 360-degree cameras to make parking easier. It’s got automatic headlights, and 3 USB ports, none of which the City has to offer.

Exterior

Nissan Sunny

In the design department, it is the Honda City that takes the cake. The designers have really pushed the bar and the City doesn’t look as economical as its rival. Being the first time a Sport grade is available in the City, it gets black exterior trim, 16-inch alloys, a spoiler, and rear LED lights that all look great when paired with a bright red exterior.

Verdict

Nissan Sunny vs Honda City

So you’ve reached the end of this head-to-head and still aren’t sure which of the two to buy. On the one hand, the Sunny is more fuel-efficient; it has more features and just feels a lot more modern. But on the other hand, the City has rear AC vents, a bigger boot, and is cheaper to buy.

So, would you rather pay 64,900 Dirhams for the City or 65,000 Dirhams for the Sunny? Let us know in the comments down below.
