Shelby American is stepping into the contemporary Mustang scene with the debut of the 2024 Super Snake, which is based on the S650 platform. True to the Shelby tradition, this new Super Snake is designed to enhance both the performance and prestige of the base Mustang.

Powerful Engine Choices

Buyers have a choice between two engine configurations. Both are derived from the Mustang's 5.0-liter Coyote V-8 engine. The first configuration offers the standard 480 horsepower found in the Mustang GT, while the second adds a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger, boosting the output to over 830 horsepower.

Regardless of the chosen engine, the Super Snake comes with a revamped suspension, distinctive wheels, a Borla exhaust system, enhanced brakes, and an improved cooling setup. Transmission options include both manual and automatic, with the manual option offering a short-throw shifter and a one-piece driveshaft.

Distinctive Exterior Design

Further enhancing its performance credentials, Shelby American has reduced the Super Snake's weight by employing an aluminum hood, carbon-fiber front fenders for the widebody configuration, a redesigned front fascia, and new side skirts. The lightweight wheels mentioned earlier contribute to shedding approximately nine pounds from each wheel corner.

The choice between the coupe and convertible variants affects the rear spoiler design. The fastback model features a large rear wing, while the convertible comes with a ducktail spoiler.

Interior Upgrades and Special Features

Inside, changes are subtle, with Shelby badges replacing the standard Ford or Mustang insignia. Additionally, Super Snake models with a manual transmission feature a distinctive Shelby gear shift lever.

While pricing details for the new Super Snake have not been disclosed yet, Shelby plans to commence production this summer. Only 250 units are slated for production for the 2024 model year, so prospective buyers should act swiftly if they're keen on owning this limited-edition powerhouse.
